Strathfield
Musical Society (formerly Strathfield Light Opera Company) was founded by Robert
Broadley in 1968. Its first show was 'Land of Smiles'. In 1988, Robert handed the Society
over to its members and we became Strathfield Musical Society (SMS). SMS receives no
financial assistance or sponsorship from outside sources (although we are very receptive
to the idea)! Our only source of income is through Show Fees (yes we actually PAY to go on
stage), fund-raisers through social events and most importantly, ticket sales. Of course,
not all assistance has to be financial. We gratefully acknowledge and thank all those who
support us by donating their time and talents to our endeavours. Strathfield Musical
Society has been bringing quality entertainment to audiences in the Strathfield area for
more than thirty years. But what you may not realise is that you could become involved
too! Previous Productions: This is being presented again by special request on Febraury 18th for one night only at Club Five Dock, to raise funds for the Westmead Children's Hospital - for details, please contact Club Five Dock
The first show for 2006 will be Sweeney Todd Music & Lyrics by Stephen Sondheim This musical explores the legend of the fabled Deomn Barber of Fleet Street; the barber sets out to seek revenge on the judge who wrongly had him convicted and transported, so that he could carry out his designs on the barber's beautiful wife. One thing leads to another and as the barber dispatches his victims one by one, they end up as fillings in the "best pies in London"..... despite the greusome plot, this is a much loved and popular musical with plenty of light-hearted moments - and let's face it, people love their TV crime shows, don't they?? Performances - 19, 20, 21, 26 & 27 May - for details, please contact our Booking Office on 9797 6658
