Las Vegas (Confidential) The Musical has been created with passion, energy and enthusiasm, and that should be remembered by anyone who sees this show.

There's no doubt in the world that this musical has a future, particularly as a Vegas-style casino show, which is probably where its true home lies.

Alexander Dean (Tamlyn Henderson) works as a magician at a Las Vegas casino, but sees barely a cent of his money given he owes the establishment's boss, Tony Spitori (Tony Nikolakopoulos) more than a million dollars.

Alexander meets the girl of his dreams, Francesca (played on opening night by understudy Diana Holt), though he's later tempted by burlesque starlet Tiffany Hills (Tiffani Wood).

The love story between Alexander and Francesca is one of loyalty, heart and betrayal and one that keeps you interested throughout, not because of the 'thrill of the chase' but moreso because of the complicated nature of their relationship and the personalities involved.

The other major element to the script is of course the "mob" factor in Vegas and given the research put into the show it's an education to many about the goings-on behind the scenes in Vegas.

In general this is a jukebox show with music we already know and that's generally a winner with audiences. Sure, some theatre purists may not like it but the reality is that when Alexander and Eduardo (Garry Scale) perform a duet of the Kenny Rogers classic 'The Gambler', the audience enjoy it - and that's the key.

Tiffani Wood has been promoted as the show's star, essentially, and she performs strongly in act two, her singing voice as amazing as it was when she burst onto the pop scene if not better.

Tamlyn Henderson does a great job in the lead role and Diana Holt should be commended for a wonderful performance as Francesca, while Garry Scale adds some nice touches of humour as Eduardo.

The costumes are excellent and a real highlight of the show and indeed any future incarnations - and I do believe there should and will be future incarnations - need to keep the integrity of the costumes as they truly are fabulous. The women will love it just to admire the detail and flair, and the men will love it too, for obvious reasons.

The producers and creators of Las Vegas (Confidential) The Musical should be commended for tackling a new Australian work and indeed getting it onto the stage.

At the end of the day it is a fun, exciting ride - one of those shows in which you can put troubles to the back of your mind and simply let your hair down. And given some of the things going in the world, this just may be the perfect medicine.
