The People's Voice team

Cathy Denovan (left) is a thirty-something theatre diehard, and stay-at-home mum to two small future theatre buffs.

She first fell in love in 1983, with a musical called West Side Story, and thus began a lifelong affair with all things Broadway. Many, many plays and musicals later, she is currently in raptures over that not-so-little show called Wicked, currently playing in her hometown of Melbourne.

Cathy will be hitting Melbourne's theatres to review a wide variety of shows, and while AussieTheatre.com's official reviewers remain on duty, those part of The People's Voice will give a different perspective and send a message to the industry about what the general theatre-goer wants to see.

Richard and Yvonne Thornton (right) are a retired couple from greater western Sydney who have always had a passion for theatre. The pair often see shows at their local community theatre, and make trips into the city on a semi-regular basis to see major musicals and plays.

Richard spent years working for CityRail as a train driver.

michellebutters.jpg (9068 bytes)Michelle Butters (left) from Sydney has spent the last 10 years bouncing around various government departments as an archivist to pay for all the travelling she's done and the theatre she's seen.

She grew up listening to musicals and going to the theatre and spent the last year in London travelling around and going to as many shows as possible. Now that she’s back in Australia the plan is to go back to Uni and finally try and get a “real” job like a grown up.

And finally, Brooklyn Ley (right) is 24 and comes from Adelaide. She is a Secretary by day and a Theatre Obsessed Freak by night. Occasionally these two collide, but it’s fine, her workmates have become very good at blocking out her ‘singing’.

She has been to Broadway and travelled Australia to see shows and next year plans to hit the West End. Hence why she will never be able to afford to move out of her parent's house.
