MIRANDA MUSICAL SOCIETY
Miranda Musical Society Inc is a community non profit organisation, well renowned
in the Sutherland Shire and throughout Sydney. Our objective is to stage high quality
musical productions.
Our multi talented members contribute to all facets of our stage productions, both on and
off stage. They are involved in a myriad of tasks ranging from costuming, designing,
building and painting sets, lighting, properties, selling tickets, seating patrons, making
and selling refreshments and so on, the ability to sing, dance or perform is not a
requirement. Like any other club, members pay a minimal yearly membership fee and a show
fee per production if they are performing (for insurance purposes).
We rehearse in Como School of Performing Arts usually on Tuesday and Friday nights. Each
year we stage 3 productions at either the Sutherland Entertainment Centre or at the
smaller Sutherland School of Arts theatre.
New members are always welcome! If there is a show you would love to be a part of please
contact us. We are always interested in hearing what performers and the general public are
keen to be involved in.
Performers are encouraged to contact us about an audition. Non-performing members are also
welcome to contact us. |

STRATHFIELD MUSICAL SOCIETY
Strathfield Musical Society (formerly Strathfield Light Opera Company) was founded
by Robert Broadley in 1968. Its first show was 'Land of Smiles'. In 1988, Robert handed
the Society over to its members and we became Strathfield Musical Society (SMS). SMS
receives no financial assistance or sponsorship from outside sources (although we are very
receptive to the idea)! Our only source of income is through Show Fees (yes we actually
PAY to go on stage), fund-raisers through social events and most importantly, ticket
sales. Of course, not all assistance has to be financial. We gratefully acknowledge and
thank all those who support us by donating their time and talents to our endeavours.
Strathfield Musical Society has been bringing quality entertainment to audiences in the
Strathfield area for more than thirty years. But what you may not realise is that you
could become involved too!
The Society offers its members the opportunity to learn about and experience the thrill of
performing. For those who do not wish to do that however, the Society also needs committed
people interested in stage management/crewing, set design/construction, front of house
sales, marketing, wardrobe, production design, musicians and a range of administrative
tasks that go with an organisation such as this.
Most importantly though, we are a family. Over the years, members have formed very close
ties and associations and it is the experience of anyone who joins that they very soon
find they are an integral part of a close knit group. |

SHIRE MUSIC THEATRE
Shire Music Theatre (formerly The Sutherland Shire Light Opera Company) has a long
history in the Shire - 30 years to be exact. 2004 marked our 30th year in Community
Theatre. SMT is a boutique style music theatre company and is fast gaining a reputation
for tackling musical theatre works which are not often performed by other companies.
We take great pride in watching the progress of our junior members, who gain a great deal
of knowledge, experience and self-esteem from performing with our Company. Indeed, several
of our former junior members now have wonderful careers in professional theatre.
To help grow the company, we are constantly on the lookout for new members of all ages and
levels of experience. Musical theatre brings so many different arts together, so if you
can sing, dance, act, paint, build, sew or you'd just like to have some fun, we'd love to
hear from you. |
