The Lowdown:
A very much talked about production that was loved by audiences across Australia. Bombshells starred Caroline O'Connor, one of Australia's most loved performers, as six women: Meryl Davenport, Tiggy Entwhistle, Mary O'Donnell, Theresa McTerry, Winsome Webster and Zoe Struthers. This MTC production opened in Melbourne and was a hit in Sydney.

Review Snippets

"When (Caroline O’Connor) didn't come back for a second curtain call on opening night there were murmurs that she was probably hooked up to an IV drip. This is a marathon performance. It's hugely wordy and physically and vocally demanding…Murray-Smith is writing at her best: observant, perceptive, clever. And her characters - especially the manic ones - are fleshy, complex and utterly real." - Herald Sun

“In short: Dazzling. Bombshells takes Murray-Smith to a new level of poignancy and exposes the tour de force that is Caroline O’Connor.” - Herald Sun

"A triumph of writing, performance and direction ... immensely entertaining … a remarkable tour de force and irresistible in its sheer energy … Murray-Smith's writing is a joy … the final effect is seamless; you cannot see where the writer's work finishes, and the director and the actor take over ... Prediction: (O'Connor) will take BOMBSHELLS to the West End and perhaps Broadway and sweep all before her. Get in quick if you want to be able to boast you were there where it all began." - The Age
