A singer, actor and dancer,
Belinda Wollaston has trained at the National Institute of Dramatic Art (Singer, Actor,
Dancer and Young Actors Studio), The McDonald Performing Arts College (Certificate IV in
Musical Theatre), the Sydney Dance Company, the Penrith Dance Company and is a graduate of
the prestigious Talent Development Project.
Most recently, Belinda has appeared in a production of Putting It Together at the
Seymour Centre in Sydney.
In 2003, Belinda appeared in a number of criticaly acclaimed plays, including Three
Winters Green (SBW Stables Theatre), Milk (Old Fitzroy Theatre), Assassins (New Theatre)
and Balm In Gilead (Imperial Hotel Theatre).
2003 also saw Belinda return to the Sydney Cabaret Convention for the second year
in a row, where she was a finalist, and perform her self-written solo cabaret show, Hymns
From A Hurricane, at Kabarett Junction and The Basement. She also made regular guest
appearances on Muf-Tee at the SBW Stables Theatre with Hayden Tee.
The year before, Belinda performed her debut solo show, Songs From My Hairbrush:
The Bedroom Mirror And Me, to sellout audiences at Kabarett Junction. It is regarded as
the show that kicked off the trend of younger performers, as opposed to older ones between
shows, performing full length cabaret shows.
Belinda has also worked with Brown Fox Productions in conjunction with the East
Coast Theatre Company in their production of Late Nite Wired at Café 9, performed at
Starstruck in Wollongong, the Schools Spectacular in Sydney, the Bicardi Festival at
Darling Harbour and in Sydney Theatre Company's All Star Cabaret.
Belinda has appeared on Mornings with Kerri-Anne on the Nine Network, Today on the
Nine Network, Rising Stars on ABC TV, All Saints for Channel Seven and has taken part in a
variety of television and radio interviews for various media organisations.
In late 2003, Belinda made her commercial musical theatre debut in the smash hit
musical Mamma Mia, often touted as the world's most successful and entertaining musical.
Belinda spent two years performing in the Australian touring production of the show, which
took in Melbourne, Brisbane, Sydney, Perth, Adelaide, New Zealand, Singapore and Hong
Kong.
In August 2005 she made her Sydney Theatre Company debut in the musical Summer
Rain, gaining considerable audience acclaim.
In 2006 Belinda starred in a production of Putting It
Together at the Seymour Centre in Sydney, and travelled to New York on the ASCAP
Scholarship, where she worked with some of the theatre world's biggest names, including
Stephen Sondheim and Stephen Schwartz.
In October she will star as Kate McGowen in the Australian
production of the Broadway musical, Titanic.
